Dr. Evan Mason

Founder, American Command Compliance

Assistant Chief Evan Mason has dedicated his life to answering the call, but his greatest mission extends beyond the fireground: transforming the internal culture of emergency services. As the founder of American Command Compliance, Dr. Mason is a leading force in eradicating workplace hazing and predatory behavior, championing organizational environments where respect, safety, and accountability are non-negotiable.

A Maryland native, Mason’s fire service journey began in 2005. Over two decades of rigorous service, his commitment to operational excellence and transformational leadership propelled him rapidly through the ranks. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2014, Captain in 2017, Battalion Chief in 2019, and ultimately Assistant Chief in July 2024. Through thousands of hours leading crews, he witnessed firsthand the unique cultural complexities of the fire service. He recognized a critical gap: true leadership requires protecting personnel inside the station as fiercely as they protect the public outside it.

This realization became the catalyst for American Command Compliance. Driven by a definitive personal mission to eliminate unlawful and unwanted behavior in emergency services, Mason developed specialized training programs. Today, he empowers organizations nationwide through expert instruction on Respectful Workplaces, Hostile Work Environments, and comprehensive Harassment and Regulatory Compliance.

Mason’s approach is backed by an unparalleled academic and professional foundation that bridges tactical command with high-level human resources. After earning his bachelor’s degree from Thomas Edison State University, he aggressively pursued advanced credentials. In 2025, he obtained his Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation from the CPSE, alongside dual master’s degrees—a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Organizational Leadership with a concentration in HR—from the American College of Education. By 2027, he reached the pinnacle of his academic and professional training, earning a Doctorate in Education with a concentration in Adult Learning, as well as the industry’s most rigorous HR credentials: the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from HRCI.

When he is not shaping the future of fire service leadership or developing modern HR frameworks, Evan enjoys traveling and connecting with new people. Whether standing before a classroom of recruits or consulting with executive leadership, his passion remains unwavering: helping emergency response organizations build resilient, harassment-free cultures where every member can thrive.

Kevin Roeher

COO, American Command Compliance

In an era where compliance is often reduced to checkboxes and technical procedures, Kevin Roeher, Chief Operating Officer of American Command Compliance, sees the entire architecture of a resilient organization. His approach is not forged in lecture halls, but in the crucible of real-world human interaction.

Kevin’s perspective is a unique convergence of discipline, diplomacy, and decisive action, built on a foundation of diverse emergency services. His journey began in 2012 in the challenging environment of corrections, where he learned that clear communication and strategic understanding are essential for order. He then transitioned into active duty as a police officer in 2014, while concurrently serving in the Army National Guard, a dual role that reinforced his dedication to both domestic safety and global security.

His evolution in service continued in 2018 with Howard Fire and Rescue, a role that demanded immediate, life-saving responses. Soon after, his call to duty was answered by a 1.5-year deployment to Djibouti, an experience that deepened his understanding of international operations, diverse cultural landscapes, and the absolute necessity of cohesive team dynamics under extreme pressure.

Now leading American Command Compliance, a company dedicated to the education and practical application of organizational integrity, Kevin brings this extensive experience to the forefront. He understands that compliance is not just about avoiding litigation; it is about building a culture of trust and high performance. He does not just teach; he translates years of mission-critical observations into actionable educational curriculums.

Kevin specializes in the invisible threads that bind a team together:

  • Conflict Resolution and De-escalation: Mastering the ability to diffuse volatile situations.

  • Interpersonal and Cultural Training: Recognizing and leveraging the unique strengths of a diverse workforce.

  • Respectful Communication and Bystander Intervention: Moving beyond politeness to active stewardship.

  • Workplace Bullying and Psychological Safety: Ensuring the environment itself provides the security needed for success.

  • Whistleblower Policy and Retaliation Prevention: Establishing the essential mechanisms for accountability.

As Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Roeher ensures that American Command Compliance operates with the same precision, clarity, and ethical dedication he has demonstrated throughout his career. His vision is not just compliant organizations, but resilient teams where trust is the standard and safety is the default.
